A couple of months ago I noticed that I would have to unplug to restart the printer. The wifi light was still on so I know it had power. It just wouldn't wake up. I couldn't wake it up touching the display or opening the cover after a period of time (say 30 minutes or so). After unplugging, it SEEMED to operate normally with the exception that some documents wouldn't fully print. It doesn't seem to pick on any particular doc type...some PDF's print completely...some appear to be ink problems with entire chunks of the document missing and light print. Same for Word, etc. I've restarted, removed and reinstalled, and reset the printer as well as cleaning cartridges. I used HP Scan Dr with the same result. I'm thinking this has to be some type of software issue...but all software is up to date. What should I try next? Details below...
1. Product Name and Number
•HP Pavilion 27-a010 with HP Envy 7645 Printer
2. Operating System installed (if applicable)
•Windows 10 64-bit
3. Error message (if any)
• No error message
4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
• Unknown, updates occur automatically.

@dmolish85, Welcome to HP Support Community!
I am assuming that the printer is connected wireless to the computer. Follow the steps below-
Assign manual IP to the printer
The steps on how to set a manual IP address can be found here.
For the DNS servers please use 8.8.8.8 for the Manual Preferred DNS Server and 8.8.4.4 for the Alternate DNS server. These are Google’s public DNS servers
Add a TCP/IP port
- Print a Network Configuration Report from the Printer Settings or Wireless menu.
- Right-click your printer, select Printer Properties, click the Ports tab, and then click Add Port.
- Select Standard TCP/IP Port, and then click New Port.
- Follow the instructions to add a new port using the information listed on the Network Configuration Report.
- Try printing.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Just tap on the wireless button on the printer display to get the printer's IP address and follow the steps as-is from my previous post.

In the interest of helping some other poor soul out there with a similar problem...this worked great for keeping the printer attached to the network and allowing for it to wake up on demand vs. having to unplug and then replug power. On the print side...I think I had a dead ink cartridge. Although I showed having low ink...it wasn't reporting so low that it should be replaced. I took a chance and bought a new cartridge and printer is working normally now. Thank you for your help!
