HP Envy 7640
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I bought an HP Envy 7640 today, 11/5/2016.  It will NOT print photos from the photo tray.   The printer has paper in both trays, but keeps taking the 8 1/2 x 11 paper instead of the photo paper.  I am using the default app for viewing photos (Microsoft Office 2010) and have tried selecting both the index card 4x6in. and the 4x6/10x15 cm sizes.  The end result is the same, a picture printed in the middle of the plain paper.  I've searched the forums and found two related threads.  Since I just installed the printer today, I didn't figure there would be any newer drivers in the latest hour, so I ended up downloading the "HP Print and Scan Doctor."  It found a "Port Match Issue" and fixed it, but when I printed another picture, it was still on plain paper.  If I remove the plain paper and only leave in the photo paper, the printer throws a fit and says it is out of paper.  Any ideas?  I'm not a newbie, but in over 20 years of using HP products, this is the first time I have had to fill out an issue for a board.  (And with the Instant Ink program, this is starting to rack up my print count without a single success.)

RESOLVED - From the photo, once you select the printer & paper, you have to go into the OPTIONS, then printer properties, then go to the Paper/Quality tab, then to the Paper Source and manually select the specific tray (Main Tray/Photo Tray).  Sheesh, shouldn't that be automatic once you select the paper size?

Did you select the correct printing shortcut in the Printing Preferences?
