A few days ago, maybe starting 9/8/2020, the problem began. In Acrobat Reader DC or in MS Word 2010 or in MS Excel 2010, when clicking "PRINT", whichever program was running hangs and says "not responding". I don't even get a chance to choose a printer. I have to "end task".
The funny thing is I can print the test page from Control Panel/Devices and Printers/HP Envy 7640 series (Network) - the default printer/Printer Properties/print test page. I can also print from Notepad. I can also print any page on the web by right-clicking and choosing Print and then clicking Print making sure HP Envy is chosen.
I can also print any PDF or XLS or DOC from my other desktop (since this is a network printer) without any issues. Therefore, the issue only exists in this pc, my main pc.
I have already uninstalled and then reinstalled all the HP printer software. I have al;ready used HP Print and Scan Doctor. I even unistalled and reinstalled Acrobat Reader DC, even though it's obviously not simply a PDF issue (also XLS and DOC).
Can anyone help me with an idea?
Thanks much in advance...

I reviewed your post and I understand that you are unable to print from Word and Excel.
Don’t worry, I assure you I will try my best to get this sorted.
I recommend you follow the below steps and check if it helps.
Please press Win + R on your keyboard to get the Run Dialog box.
Type spool and press enter or click on the OK button.
This will bring up the spool folder. Right on the 'PRINTERS' folder and select properties.
On the printer properties popup, click on the Security tab.
Provide Full Control to all the users listed there. Apply the changes.
Now open devices and printers from the control panel.
Right-click on your printer and select printer properties.
On the printer properties popup, select the Security tab and provide full control/access.
Apply the changes and restart the computer and try to print.
Let me know how it goes and you have a great day!
