I have tried all of the "hard reset" instructions multiple (over a dozen) times to no avail. HP Smart doesn't detect the printer to be able to diagnose or fix anything. Firmware cannot be assessed, again because the printer is not being detected by the computer. I just want to know how can I factory reset my HP Envy 7858 printer? Please & Thank you!

@Maedae937, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Factory Resetting HP Envy 7858 Printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP Envy 7858 printer is stuck on the HP logo with one dot and you've already attempted hard resets without success, it may require a deeper factory reset or different troubleshooting approach. Here's a general guide to factory resetting the printer:

Power Cycle the Printer:

  • Disconnect the printer from the power source.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer and try turning it on. Occasionally, a simple power cycle can resolve startup issues.

Access the Reset Menu:

  • Note: The following steps usually work when the printer is responsive, but if the printer is stuck and not responsive to display inputs, these steps might not be effective.
  • On the printer's control panel, touch Setup or the Menu (the gear icon).
  • Navigate to Service or Printer Maintenance.
  • Select Restore or Restore Factory Defaults. Confirm any prompts to proceed with the reset.

Troubleshoot Connectivity Issues:

  • Ensure the printer is properly connected to your network. Double-check Wi-Fi and Ethernet connections if applicable.
  • Reinstall the driver and HP Smart application. Sometimes reinstalling the software can refresh connectivity issues.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
