A few months old.. when we boot or power cycle it comes up with a Blue screen with a Code  D812393C and stay there. Never gets to to an on screen menu etc..  guessing it cant read a piece of the boot loader program.   Is it possible to reflash the ROM via USB at startup... on one of the power cycles we got into a screen with had some selections like  MFG - REFLASH  - AUDIT

Thinking our only shot is trying to reflash the printer via USB...  Anyone ever see this scenario / error code ?   thx

Hi @Crop_Duster,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I can imagine how concerning it must be to see your HP Envy Inspire 7900 stuck on a blue screen with error code D812393C, especially when the printer is just a few months old. You're absolutely right to suspect a bootloader or firmware issue, and your instinct to try a USB reflash is spot on.

Here’s what I found that may help you move forward:

This error typically indicates a firmware corruption or bootloader failure, preventing the printer from loading its operating environment. The fact that you briefly saw a screen with options like MFG, REFLASH, and AUDIT suggests the printer entered a diagnostic or recovery mode, which is promising.

Can You Reflash the ROM via USB?

HP does not officially document USB-based ROM reflashing for consumer printers like the Envy Inspire 7900 series. However, some internal recovery modes (like the one you saw) may allow reflashing if:

  • You have the correct firmware file.
  • You use a special HP USB recovery tool (typically available only to HP service technicians).

Unfortunately, this process is not publicly supported and attempting it without the right tools could risk bricking the printer.

What You Can Try Now

HP does offer a factory reset option that may help if the firmware is only partially corrupted:

  1. Try Accessing the Dashboard Again:
    • Power off the printer.
    • Power it on and watch closely for any screen flicker or button response.
    • If you reach the screen with MFG / REFLASH / AUDIT, try selecting REFLASH using the touchscreen or physical buttons.

  2. Factory Reset (if accessible):
    • Swipe down from the top of the screen to open the Dashboard.
    • Tap Setup > Printer Maintenance > Restore > Restore Factory Defaults.
    • Tap Continue to confirm.
