Just bought a new Envy Photo 6230 and for the first couple of seconds of the printer being switched on the touch screen was backlit and nice and bright. It then went dim and is barely readable (though everything's there, it's very dark to read).
Does anyone know if there is a setting to switch it back on, or have I been unlucky enough to have one which died within the first moments?

Thanks for visiting the HP community. A very good day to you! It will be a pleasure to assist you here. Terrific analysis of the issue before posting. Kudos to you for that. 🙂
For better clarity and to assist you better I would require more information regarding this:
- Did this happen after a recent software or windows update?
For now, try these steps:
- Please perform a hard reset on the printer from this link: https://support.hp.com/gb-en/product/hp-envy-photo-6200-all-in-one-printer-series/9073045/model/1648... and follow instructions from the section “Step 1: Reset the printer”
- Then update the printer firmware also by following instructions from this link: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16
- Perform all these steps patiently as it is critical to resolving the issue. Good luck to you.
Now check if it gets fixed. If it continues, then the printer’s hardware is faulty and it needs to be replaced. I will send you a private message to assist you with the next course of action. Please check your forum private message box next to the bell notification icon on the upper right-hand corner for a private message from me for further assistance.
Let me know how it goes. To simply say thanks, please click the "Thumbs Up" button to give me a Kudos to appreciate my efforts to help. If this helps, please mark this as “Accepted Solution” as it will help several others with the same issue to get it resolved without hassles. Take care and have a blessed week ahead. 🙂
