My printer is stuck at the HP Boot up screen. It is on the first of seven dots but won't complete the bootup.

Hi @njames518,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding your printer being stuck at the boot-up screen!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Try these steps:

Perform a Power Reset:

  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
  • Reconnect the power cord to the printer.
  • Try turning on the printer and see if it completes the boot-up process.

Check for Loose Connections:

  • Ensure all cables connected to the printer are secure and properly seated.
  • Verify that there are no loose or damaged cables.

Remove Any Installed Cartridges:

  • Open the ink cartridge access door.
  • Remove all ink cartridges and close the access door.
  • Try rebooting the printer without the cartridges installed.

Check for Firmware Updates:

  • If you manage to get the printer working momentarily, check for any firmware updates that may address boot issues.
  • Visit the HP Support page and enter your printer model to check for available firmware updates.

Verify Outlet Power:

  • Test the outlet with another device to ensure it's functional and delivering consistent power.

Unplug Other Devices:

  • Remove any USB drives or other accessories plugged into the printer that might be causing conflicts.

I hope this helps.
