I just purchased an Envy 5055 printer and set it up. The setup went fine, as did the installation of the HP Smart software on my PC and on my iPad. I am able to print successfully from both my PC and my iPad
On the HP Smart software on my PC, I noticed that the printer's is set to check for firmware updates regularly, and to download them. I also noticed a "check now" button, so I clicked it. According to both the HP Smart software on my PC and the display screen on the Envy 5055, the printer attempted to download a firmware upgrade, and after about 10 minutes it notified me that it had failed. It offered the option to retry or quit so I chose to quit.
Then, on the display screen on the Envy 5055 I navigated to the firmware update function, and initiated another update. The same thing happened (after about 10 minutes it notified me that it had failed.)
Because the printer is set to automatically check for firmware updates, it continually does so, and fails. When it fails, the printer remains "offline" until I go to the printer's display screen and presss "OK." I am not allowed to change the automatic update setting. The HP Smart software says that the "automatically check for updates" selection is "required."
What do I need to do to successfully complete a firmware upgrade on my Envy 5055?

Hi @BayBuoy
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I understand you are not able to update the printer firmware. I'd be happy to assist you.
Kindly check the current version of the firmware installed on the printer. The latest version of firmware is 2009B.
On the printer screen, go to Setup > Tools > Update the printer
You may download the latest firmware from the HP Support site. Click here.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
