Hi @Dubs154,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code 0x610000c8 on HP printers usually indicates a hardware issue. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the problem.
Turn off the Printer:
- Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for about 60 seconds.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Open the printer access door and check for any paper jams. If you find any, carefully remove the jammed paper.
Reset the Printer:
- Plug the printer back into the power source and turn it on.
- Try to reset the printer to clear any temporary errors. You can do this by unplugging the power cord while the printer is on, waiting for about 30 seconds, and then plugging it back in.
Check for Obstructions:
- Make sure there are no obstructions in the paper path or around the carriage. Objects like paper clips or bits of torn paper can cause issues.
Inspect the Carriage:
- Check if the carriage (the component that holds the ink cartridges) can move freely. If it's stuck, gently move it to the center of the printer.
Update Firmware/Driver:
- Ensure that your printer firmware and drivers are up to date. You can check the HP website for the latest firmware and drivers for your specific printer model.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Disconnect any other cables connected to the printer.
- Wait for about 2-3 minutes.
- Reconnect the power cord and any other cables.
- Turn on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Ty so very much for this, the hard reset fixed my problems, I had tried unplugging and replugging it in as my first course of action, but did not realise you need to wait 2-3 minutes. Really appreciate this so very much ty again and Kind regards Penny
