Hello.

I have bought a printer with a 3 month free trial.  Would I be able to downgrade to the free plan after the trial or can I only select it at the beginning?

Also would I be able to switch inks if I have more printing then the plan allows - i.e. put in inks that I bought from the shop, print using them then put in the instant inks as I understand that you cannot downgrade to the free plan if you go to a paid plan?

Thank you.

Thank you for posting on HP Forums,

You can only select the free plan at the beginning, and yes, you should be able to switch all cartridges at any time, however, we recommend using the same cartridges with a plan that suits you the best so that you wouldn't have to go through the hassle of replacing the cartridges each time you complete the page count you've selected,

Also, you need to know that each time you remove and reinsert the Instant Ink cartridge, it would print an alignment page, just as any other printer would to ensure the ink isn't dried out and the alignment is correct, these pages are also counted as a page along with copies & test pages.

That said, here are a few things you may want to know about your HP Instant Ink account page before we get into the details of resolving your concern: Click here for FAQs.

  • Your HP Instant Ink account page contains the data on past deliveries and estimated shipments.
  • It also helps you understand what state your cartridges are in based on HP's data,
  • Any issues will be shown with its solution using a step by step approach, to make it easier for you!

Please check your account page to see the latest cartridge information by signing into your account at "instantink.com".

If the suggested information can't be found, You may respond to the private message I've sent out and I'll help you out, accordingly

Check next to your profile Name, you should see a little blue envelope, please click on it as I've sent out a list of questions and I could provide a better solution once I have the answers: Click here for more details on how to access the private messages on HP Forums
