HP Laser MFP 135w

I noticed that after the last auto-update I started getting the error "very low toner" besides it is an original cartridge that comes together with a printer I purchased about a year ago. Official warranty just ended, so it looks like a kind of scam from the vendor. The cartridge specification says that it has a resource of more than 500 pages, and only 287 of them we printed. Please see the attached images.

Also, please note, if I choose to ignore the warning, the quality of the printed page is still almost perfect.

Hi,

print out the supplies status page and upload here.

But before you must remove or delete the personal data and serial numbers on the printout.

Kind Regards

It may be a glitch in reading a cartridge that was installed before the update was installed. Warnings typically come early to give you time to ensure you have a replacement on hand. If you are still able to print, do so until print quality becomes poor. Keep in mind that 500 pages is based on 5% coverage which used to be calculated as double spaced text on a page. Any heavier or larger black prints such as bold face and headlines will reduce your actual page count.

I think I already did it (see 1st screenshot), or what do you mean? If you meant the "supply status" in HP Smart app - it does nothing - just opens an internet store to purchase a new one.

I was thinking something about that too, as it still works perfectly. But I don't know how to prove it.

Just to clarify, It is an original cartridge that came with the printer from the store. It hasn't been replaced even once. To be honest, I even forgot how to open the tray to eject it.

I cannot find "Menu" -> "System Settings" -> ...

irqx_0-1710134868098.png

There I could go only to "Printer Settings". And after going there -> I can go to the "Advanced Settings" which loads the page from the embedded printer web-application (I sent a screenshot from there at the beginning). Other menu items say nothing informative. (Win11).

There is also "Printer Reports" menu item, but on clicking on it shows the message like "please go to Advanced Settings, bla-bla-bla"

Could you please elaborate where the "System Setup" could be found?

I would be faster if you said that "Menu" is on the printer display.

Alright, here we go. information inside matches to data in HP Smart application

Check the firmware version. The last firmware update was on January 25, 2023.
You purchased the printer before January 16, 2023.

The printer still has the setup cartridges, print capacity < 500 pages.
Keyword "redistribute toner" see manual
The cartridges were produced on 8.4.2022.
Therefore, remove the cartridge once, shake it vigorously back and forth and reinsert it.

From my point of view, everything is OK.
But you will soon need a new cartridge.

Kind Regards
