HP LaserJet M3027 MFP scan to email problem

Dear community,

I've got an old multi function printer which is working well but I can't use the scan to email function.

I always get the error message "Error executing Digital Send job. Job failed."

I tried different options the whole day yesterday and today and looked for similar problems with HP printers but I'm nearly giving up...

First of all: it didn't work either before or after a firmware update (I installed the latest one 48.430.1). 

The printer is connected to my fritz!box 7490 via ethernet (LAN) and can be found in the network area.

I can connect to the printer via the integrated webserver and tried different email providers like gmx, gmail or outlook.com.

GMX:

Device’s SMTP gateway: mail.gmx.net

Enable SSL Support for SMTP: tried on or off

tried ports: 587 and 465

Enable SMTP Authentication: on

use public credentials:

username: username@gmx.net

password: ...

When I press the test button on the webserver page I always get ’mail.gmx.net’ is not responding or is not a valid SMTP Gateway Server.

So I used another email account.

outlook.com:

Device’s SMTP gateway: smtp-mail.outlook.com

Enable SSL Support for SMTP: off (switching to "on" --> printer: "email gateway is not responding"

port: 587

Enable SMTP Authentication: on

use public credentials:

username: username@outlook.com

password: ...

When I press the test button on the webserver page I get ’smtp-mail.outlook.com’ is a valid SMTP Gateway Server.

So far so good, but...

Using the scan function I always get the error message "Error executing Digital Send job. Job failed."

So I tried a third email account:

gmail.com:

Device’s SMTP gateway: smtp.gmail.com

Enable SSL Support for SMTP: off (switching to "on" --> printer: "email gateway is not responding"

port: 587

Enable SMTP Authentication: on

use public credentials:

username: username@gmail.com

password: ...

When I press the test button on the webserver page I get 'smtp.gmail.com’ is a valid SMTP Gateway Server.

So far so good, but...

Using the scan function I always get the error message "Error executing Digital Send job. Job failed."

I approved the access for less secure apps in my google account and tried the captcha unlock but these solutions don't change my scan to email problem.

All accounts work fine using Thunderbird.

Can someone please help me?

I assume that the problem is as follows:

Both POP3 and SMTP have to be used (gmail: POP3, Port 995, SSL and SMTP, Port 465, SSL).

As the printer M3027 has only a send and not a receive function it's not possible to send emails.

Does someone know a workaround?
