HI @KunleA,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP LaserJet MFP E42540 is producing slanted copies, it could be due to a few different issues. Here’s a step-by-step guide to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem:

1. Check the Document Placement

  • Ensure Proper Alignment: Make sure the document is placed correctly on the scanner glass or in the document feeder. If the document is even slightly misaligned, it can cause slanted copies.
  • Clean the Glass: Dust or smudges on the scanner glass can sometimes affect copy quality. Clean the glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and glass cleaner. Make sure the glass is dry before placing your document.

2. Check the Document Feeder

  • Proper Loading: If you’re using the document feeder, ensure that the paper is loaded correctly and aligned with the guides. The guides should be snug against the paper but not too tight.
  • Clean the Feeder: Dust or debris in the feeder can cause misalignment. Clean the rollers and the feeder area according to the printer’s maintenance instructions.

3. Check the Paper

  • Paper Quality: Use high-quality paper that is recommended for your printer. Low-quality or wrinkled paper can cause alignment issues.
  • Paper Size: Ensure that the paper size selected in the printer settings matches the paper loaded in the tray.

4. Calibration

  • Printer Calibration: Some printers have a calibration option to correct alignment issues. Check the printer’s menu for a calibration or alignment option and follow the instructions.

5. Firmware and Driver Updates

  • Update Firmware: Outdated firmware can sometimes cause issues. Check for any available firmware updates for your printer on the HP Support website.
  • Update Drivers: Make sure you have the latest drivers installed for your printer. You can download the latest drivers from the HP Support website.

6. Perform a Printer Reset

  • Reset Settings: Sometimes, performing a reset can help resolve alignment issues. Refer to the printer’s manual for instructions on how to perform a factory reset or settings reset.

7. Consult the Printer Manual

  • Manual Troubleshooting: Refer to the user manual for your HP LaserJet MFP E42540 for any specific troubleshooting steps related to slanted copies.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
