HP LaserJet MFP M130fw
Microsoft Windows 8.1 (64-bit)

My printer takes a long time to print because it is initializing.  My previous HP MFP laser printer did the same thing, so I replaced it, but apparently the issue has something to do with the model, not the printer itself.  Any suggestions?  It's making me crazy.  My last print job took 21 minutes!

Hello, first copy out time on some models does take a long time, due to the initialization and calibration adjustments on warmup. Here is a thread about this issue posted a while back and should be able to help you out with this issue.

Hope this helps, thanks.

Thanks, but mine does this all the time.  Doesn't matter how long the printer has been on or even how many print jobs I've done.

Then the issue could be related to the way the print driver is setup. If you are setup using a USB cable vs Ethernet, and does it go through a network or switch of any kind? Also may check the port settings and make sure your not using a WSD port and using a I.P. address instead. If you are using a Mac computer, you can change the protocol settings, when installing to print driver, to LPD (Line Printer Daemon) instead of IPP (Internet Printing Protocol). You can also try using a universal print driver, instead of model specific.

Hope this helps, thanks.

Thank you.  Most of what you said is Greek to me, but I'll ask my IT guy (my husband) to check out those things for me.  🙂
