Hello,
I bought my printer HP LaserJet MFP M140w at January 2023.
I installed the printer by the HP Smart tool on my MacBook Air with MacOS Ventura 13.4.1 and I disabled Web services because I didn't want to subscribe HP Insant Iink.
At June 2023 I changed the toner with an original one (see below) and was able to continue to print, scan correcly until few days ago when the printer raised the yellow warning "Check accounts" and stopped to print...
I tryed everything possible:
- Reinstall the printer MANY times
- Reinstall HP smart and the printer many times
- Reset the printer and reinstalling it
- on hp.com I registerd the printer under my account
(I waste a lot of time on this, because I used the WRONG product number reported by the HP Smart printer info page...)
- On HP smart -> My Printer -> Advanced settings -> HP Web Service -> I tried to re-enable Web Service but the page seems looping endless
A very strange thing was in HP Smart -> Printer -> Printer information where the product number was DIFFERENT than the one showed in the printer LABEL....
Please help me
Thanks
Mario

Hi @Mario_Coox,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I suggest that you follow the steps listed below to reset printing systems and then add the printer.
1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences.
2. Click Printers & Scanners, Print & Scan, or Print & Fax.
3. Right-click (or Control + click) anywhere inside the Printers window, and then click Reset printing system.
4. Click Reset or OK.
Note: Once you click on reset any other printer added to this computer will also get deleted and needs to be added again.
5. If prompted, type your username and password, and then click OK. The printing system resets.
6. Turn off the printer, wait 5 seconds, and then turn on the printer.
7. Wait until the printer is idle and silent.
8. In the Printers window on the Mac, click the Add button.
9. Select your printer from the list, and then click Add.
It might take a few seconds before your printer displays in the Printers list.
You may also follow the video in this document
Note: Resetting Printing System will delete the drivers of the other printers added to the Mac computer and you may need to re-add those printers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

Hi Rainbow23
Thanks for the suggestions but it didn't fix the issue.
On MacBook Air, I reset the printer system and re-added the HP LaserJet MFP M140we printer, but nothing changed.
The yellow exclamation point continued to blink on the printer keyboard.
The HP Smart app shows me the yellow warning "Check your account" for my printer.
When I launch a print, it didn't start and a red error (without any text) appears on the Apple print queue manager.
Trying to fix the HP Smart app "Check your account" yellow warning, I was able to register my printer on my hp.com account, BUT it doesn't appear in the account management section of the HP Smart App.
The only "stranger" issue is about the product number:
- The Product Numbert on the PRINTER LABEL allowed me to register the printer in the HP web site
- The Product Numbert on the HP Smart App -> "Printer Information" is DIFFERENT than the one on the LABEL... and cannot be used to register the device
Thanks
Mario
