Let me first state, I am beyond fed up with the abysmal customer service (or lack there of of HP). The website is extremely difficult to navigate and of course I cannot chat with a representative because the serial number and product number of my printer is shown to be invalid, even though im reading it directly from the printer. 

 

Anyways, changed the toner with genuine HP toner cartridge of the same type and the printer will not print and continuously jams, I was able to take the toner out and replace with the old one and it prints just fine. 

 

Am I missing something with the old one? Is there a way to jump start the printing so it works?

You have a defective toner it happens, return it to the place of purchase.
