@Granaturov

I'm sorry you feel that way. As the printer is able to print all other files fine, it is not an issue with the printer. Try the preview app or contact Adobe support for assistance.

Yes, if the printer is out of warranty, you will not be able to contact the HP Support team for free. You may have to pay for support.

Keep me posted for any other assistance.

Kumar -

I appreciate your answering very much.

You said, "As the printer is able to print all other files fine, it is not an issue with the printer."

Apple support said exactly the same thing in reverse: "As the computer is able to print all other files fine, it is not an issue with your MAC.  Contact HP."

Scanning through the community there are many complaints about failure to print PDF.  I haven't tried contacting Adobe, but will.  It remains obvious to me, though, that there is something amiss in the dialog between the MAC and the printer when printing Adobe files.  I have said that I can print these adobe files fine from my Windows 10 PC.  This tells me that the problem is communication between the MAC OS and the printer.  BTW I cannot print PDFs from my iPhone either, while all other file types print fine.

You said "if the printer is out of warranty, you will not be able to contact the HP Support team for free. You may have to pay for support."

As I explained in my note, I tried to purchase technical support from HP so I could talk to a technician about this, but I was told that I could not purchase post-warranty support for this printer.  That is why I said what I said about HP support.    HP support has said, essentially, "Tough luck. Try somebody else."

This is essentially what you've said, too.  HP has taken no ownership of the issue nor offered any real help to me or anyone on this thread.  How about sharing my comments with your leadership?

Hi Kumar,

Thanks for your patience as I tried your suggested solutions to this issue. None of them worked consistently. Sometimes a file prints and sometimes the printer acts as if it is going to print the file and then stops and acts as if the print job is complete with no other error messages.

All my software is updated in Mac, HP, and Adobe. The only solution that has worked is for me to connect the printer directly to my Mac with a USB cable. Wireless printing from Mac to this HP printer is sporadic not just for PDF's but also for PowerPoint files and even Word documents and images.

Agree with the other commenters on this post that there is a communication issue between Mac OS and HP's firmware since the last update in 2020. A Google search will show you that we are not the only three people in the world having this issue. It is a frequent problem for many. I hope that HP will look into this further and discover where the glitch is. As the others have said, it all worked fine until a recent HP update in the firmware, thus I suspect it's the glitch is on the HP side of things more than the Mac side. Please pass this issue along to your firmware developers and urge them to look into the problem.

Thank you,

Courtney

Thank you, Kumar. I appreciate your escalating the issue to the concerned team. I've only had this printer for a couple of years and do not want to get a new one. The print quality is great, it's just the firmware has been a little buggy.
