I have a HP NEVERSTOP LASER MFP 120X & FILLED TONER 3 TIMES BUT STILL SHOWS EMPTY!? I've tried turning printer off & unplugging it for 1 minute and no luck. I've tried updating firmware and no luck.

Please help with how to reset the toner empty LED light / low toner warning....

Hi @elfster1234,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It seems like your HP Neverstop Laser MFP is not properly detecting the toner after refilling, which is a common issue with refillable printers. Here are some steps to help you reset the toner level indicator and resolve the low toner warning.

Check the Toner Reset Button

  • Many HP Neverstop printers have a toner reset button that needs to be pressed after refilling the toner to update the toner level.
  • Check your printer's manual for the exact location of this button. It's typically found near the toner tank, behind a panel.

Manually Reset Toner Levels via Printer Menu

  • Try accessing the printer menu (usually via the control panel) and look for a toner reset or maintenance option.
  • Go to Settings > Supply Level > Toner Level > and see if there’s an option to reset the toner level.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn the printer off, unplug it from the power source, and leave it unplugged for at least 10 minutes.
  • While it’s unplugged, press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds to drain any residual power.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on. This can sometimes clear any firmware glitches.

Update the Firmware Again

  • Ensure that you have the latest firmware. Sometimes firmware updates don't apply correctly the first time.
  • Go to the HP Support website, download the latest firmware, and reinstall it.

Clean the Toner Level Sensors

  • Dust or toner particles might be obstructing the toner level sensor inside the printer.
  • Carefully open the printer and clean the toner compartment and sensors using a soft cloth. Avoid using too much pressure to prevent damaging any components.

Factory Reset the Printer

If the above steps don’t work, a factory reset might help:

  • Go to the Settings menu on the printer’s control panel.
  • Look for a Factory Reset or Restore Defaults option and follow the instructions. Be aware that this will reset all printer settings.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
