My printer no longer works with my Dell laptop. A second HP laptop and my phone can still print. Problems started a couple weeks ago with printing slowing down; soon thereafter, I would get a momentary black screen after sending a document to print; and finally this week began getting error message and no print out for every print job. I am on a Dell laptop running Windows 10.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program from the affected laptop using Basic Package/Driver, Full Package/Driver, and HPSmart from the Windows Store. None of the 3 installations has gotten the printer working again. Running diagnostics tools results in either finding no errors or a message that there is a Print Queue Issue that hasn't been fixed.
The printer is selected as default, properties list the device as working properly. However, any print job results in an error message and hangs in the queue until deleted.
The only problem I can find is that the HP Network Devices Support service is stopped on the Dell laptop and cannot be restarted. (There is a different service running on the HP laptop that supports communication with devices). Attempting to restart the service gets "error 126: The specified module could not be found." Error logs show that several weeks ago there was a failure of printfilterpipelinesvc.exe.
Any help on how to remedy this problem will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Let's try to do a root uninstall and reinstall of the software:
Unplug any USB cable, if any, before doing this.
1.) In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
2.) Select your HP Printer
3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose 'Delete' or 'Remove Device'
6.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo.
7.) Type printui.exe /s and click Ok. (Note: there is a space in between “printui.exe” and “/s”)
8.) Click on the "Drivers" tab
9.) Look for HP Printer driver. If you see it Click on it and click Remove at the bottom
10.) Select Ok
11.) Select Apply and Ok on the Print Server Properties windows
12.) Close Devices and Printers
13.) Open up the run command with the "Windows key + R" key combo
14.) Type c:/programdata and click Ok. Go to Hewlett Packard folder, remove any printer related folders & files.
15.) Restart the computer.
Once done, please download and install the software from here:

Thanks so much! This did get my printer working again, which is great.
But I still have the original problem of the screen blacking out for 2-4 seconds every time I send something to print, And I've got a more simple user interface - the one with the pre-defined print properties is gone, maybe this is a standard Windows printer interface?
If you have any thoughts about how to fix those issues, please let me know. Otherwise, I am thrilled to be able to print again and not going to worry further about it.
Thanks again!

You could try a firmware update for the screen blacking out: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1776648-1643972-16
About the interface - did you download the full feature drivers from the website?

Thanks for your suggestion.
Using update through the printer itself, I get a message that no driver update is needed.
I used the Software-Utilities file "HP OfficeJet 5200 All-in-One Print and Scan Driver and Accessories" this time.
