Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My HP6830 will not print.  There are no error messages. I have checked for latest drivers and software and there are none. I was able to print a test page so the printer and computer appear to be communicating.  The ink supply is low but no messages appear.   I have reboted the printer several times.  I'm using Chrome and I typically hit the print icon or cnrl/P and it prints.  Now nothing happens. This has happened several times before but I was able to resolve thru HP help but nothing is resolving the current problem.

Hi @SteveJ2,

Welcome back to the HP Support Forums!

I see that your HP Officejet 6830 Printer is not printing. I would be happy to help.

Please replace all low ink cartridges. The ink level indicator is estimate only, the ink is likely completed depleted.
NOTE: It is recommended to replace the ink cartridges before they they are depleted. This will reduce the risk of getting air trapped inside the printhead, which will cause print quality problems.
  1. Are you able to copy?
  2. Are you able to print a test page? Go to: Setup Menu-> Reports-> Printer Status Report.
  3. What were the results?
If you're unable to print a test page or copy, there is a print quality problem.

Please follow the steps within this guide:
If you have a defective ink cartridge, it might be under warranty. To check the warranty on your ink supplies, go tohp.com/go/learnaboutsupplies, select your country/region, and then review the limited warranty information for your supplies.

If you're experiencing a print quality issue, I highly recommend you contact HP.

If test copy and print report prints out without defects, there is a software, driver or connectivity issue.

Please download and run the Print and Scan Doctor, it will likely diagnose and resolve the issue you are experiencing.
What were the results when you ran the Print and Scan Doctor (did it print or scan, any error messages)?

Please remember to return to this thread and mark 'Accept as Solution', if I have successfully helped you resolve the issue. If you wish to say 'thanks' for my effort to help, click the 'thumbs up' to give me a Kudos.

Thanks for the feedback Drakster.  I did insert new ink after I posted to the forum and after rebooting the computer it was printing again.  However, I'm not positive that ink was the problem since this has happened before and there was no diagnostic.  Anyway alls well that ends well and I'll consider it solved if this doesn't happen again.  Thanks -  SteveJ2
