Hi @TOM677 ,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A "Printer Failure" message on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus indicates a hardware or ink system issue. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

Restart the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for about 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord.
  • Turn on the printer.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Make sure there is no paper jam inside the printer.
  • Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that all ink cartridges are properly installed.
  • Check the ink levels to make sure they are not empty.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord.
  • Wait for a few minutes.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Update Printer Firmware:

  • Visit the HP website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model.
  • If an update is available, follow the instructions to update the firmware.

Clean Cartridge Contacts:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Remove the ink cartridges.
  • Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth.
  • Reinstall the ink cartridges.

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Disconnect any USB cables.
  • Wait for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Reconnect the power cord and USB cables.
  • Turn on the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
