Hi @TOM677 ,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A "Printer Failure" message on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus indicates a hardware or ink system issue. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the problem:
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord.
- Turn on the printer.
Check for Paper Jams:
- Make sure there is no paper jam inside the printer.
- Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions.
Check Ink Levels:
- Ensure that all ink cartridges are properly installed.
- Check the ink levels to make sure they are not empty.
Reset the Printer:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord.
- Wait for a few minutes.
- Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Visit the HP website and check if there is a firmware update available for your printer model.
- If an update is available, follow the instructions to update the firmware.
Clean Cartridge Contacts:
- Turn off the printer.
- Remove the ink cartridges.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the cartridges and inside the printer using a lint-free cloth.
- Reinstall the ink cartridges.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Turn off the printer.
- Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
- Disconnect any USB cables.
- Wait for about 2-3 minutes.
- Reconnect the power cord and USB cables.
- Turn on the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
