My HP OfficeJet PRO 9015e All-in-One is reporting a carriage jam.  I have gone through all the steps and It seems that the carriage is locked ..  It is all the way on the right and will not move. As far as  I can see, I don't see anything in the way, but I'm not sure if something is lodged in there.  How can I resolve this issue?

Hi @TMRB5,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

A carriage jam in a printer can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue. Since you've mentioned that the carriage is locked and stuck on the right side, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot and hopefully resolve the problem.

Turn Off and On:

  • Power off the printer and unplug it from the power source.
  • Wait for about 1-2 minutes.
  • Plug the printer back in and turn it on.

Inspect for Obstructions:

  • Open the printer cover and look for any foreign objects, such as paper scraps or debris, around the carriage path.
  • Use a flashlight to get a better view.
  • Carefully remove any obstructions you find.

Manually Move the Carriage:

  • Ensure the printer is turned off.
  • Gently move the carriage to the left using your hand. Check for any obstructions that might be preventing its movement.
  • Move it back and forth a few times to ensure it's not stuck.

Check for Paper Jams:

  • Look for any jammed paper inside the printer.
  • Open all access doors and remove any jammed paper carefully.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer.
  • Disconnect the power cord from the back of the printer.
  • Wait for at least 60 seconds.
  • Reconnect the power cord and turn on the printer.

Update Firmware:

  • Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware. Visit the HP website, locate your printer model, and download any available firmware updates.

Remember to follow the printer manual or any instructions provided by HP for your specific printer model.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
