Hi @ccoronado712,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

Since your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 shows as ready in HP Smart but doesn’t print, try these steps to fix the issue:

Check Printer Status

Restart the Printer

  • Power off the printer and unplug it for 60 seconds.
  • Plug it back in and turn it on.

Check Ink & Paper

  • Make sure there’s enough ink and paper loaded correctly.

Print a Test Page

  • Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  • Right-click your HP OfficeJet Pro 7740 and select Printer Properties.
  • Click Print Test Page.
  • If this works, the issue is likely software-related.

Clear Print Queue

  1. Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and hit Enter.
  2. Find Print Spooler, right-click, and select Stop.
  3. Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files inside.
  4. Go back to Print Spooler, right-click, and select Start.
  5. Try printing again.

Set Printer as Default

  1. Open Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
  2. Find HP OfficeJet Pro 7740, right-click, and select Set as Default Printer.
  3. Try printing again.

Reinstall HP Drivers & Software
