Mark, throw your printer away.  I tried everything that technicians said.  It did not work.  At the end, they (meaning HP), will not admitt damaged sensors.  I spoke to manager, reginonal manager and so on, and so on, and so on.  At the end, I was offered another printer (8610 at a cheaper price).  So I have advised all of my friends that have the 8600 hp printer, to throw it away and stay away as much as possible from them.

You can use it for target practice...

I also keep getting a false paper jam, I've done everything it tells me to do and it will work for a day or two and then I get the jam message again.  There is no jammed paper.  How do I get this printer to stop telling me there is one?

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @koda14

I read your post about the false paper jam issue you're having, unfortunately.

Please see one of my previous posts to read my suggestion to you for this issue. I hope it helps and you find a resolution.

Mine was outside of warranty by a couple of months, otherwise they would have replaced it. They did offer me an 8610 for a deep discount (refurbished though) and I did take it (w/ an extended warranty). I was desperate for one.....I'm out of town working on a project......delivered for  "free" to my door (hotel) w/in 2 days. The local company that repairs HP said, instead of repairing at $75/hr w/ no guarantee,  better off getting another one. I've nvr had any problems w/ my other HP printers and several others in my group were using the 8600 w/ good results (we do a lot of scanning and copying, plus they are small enough for travelling and hotel rooms. Let's see how the 8610 does. Thanks & GL......

I suffer the same problem and have just read four pages of messages of anger and frustration with a few uninformative and useless responses (but no replies) from HP agents, some of whom send private (ie secret) messages, although the purpose of a forum is to be open.  I have tried everything suggested but to no avail.

A few years ago an earlier HP model had a paper pickup problem , and HP sent a replacement and another when the first replacement failed.  I have stayed with HP for nearly 20 years, but this time I've learnt my lessons: (i) HP has obviously not learnt to make reliable machines or to be open with its customers and (ii) I have let brand loyalty override common sense.

The only sensible solution is to pop over to Staples or PC World, see what the likes of Cannon, Epson et al have to offer and give my left over ink to a good cause.
