My HP Office Jet Pro 8710 printer has been telling me that it is currently in an "error" state and I am unable to connect to it from my HP laptop. I have used every "8 digit PIN" I can think of and none of them work.

On the printer's screen there is a red triangle/exclamation symbol over the WiFi symbol. How do get my printer back up and running/online?

Welcome to the HP Support Community

To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:

Is the wireless light blinking or steady?

Print the wireless test report

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, touch (the Wireless button), and then touch ( Settings ).

2. Touch Print Reports.

3. Touch Wireless Test Report.

If the test passes and if the wireless light is blinking it means that the printer is not connected to the network.

Use the Wireless Setup Wizard from the printer control panel display to set up wireless communication.

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless).

2. Touch ( Settings ).

3. Touch Wireless Settings.

4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard or Wi-Fi Protected Setup.

5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Make sure the printer and the computer are connected to the same network.

Try to print.

If the wireless test fails this could be a hardware issue.

Keep me posted, how it goes!

The wireless light is still blinking. I followed your steps and got to a point where the printer gave me a "PIN" code. I entered the PIN on my laptop to connect to the printer's network as instructed and came up with the error: "Windows can't get the network settings from the router."

Then the screen on my printer said "WPS has timed out." I still can't connect my laptop or any other wireless device to the printer.

Did you run the wireless test on the printer?

What was the test results?

Try connecting using Wireless Setup Wizard.

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless).

2. Touch ( Settings ).

3. Touch Wireless Settings.

4. Touch Wireless Setup Wizard.

5. Follow the display instructions to complete the setup.

Make sure the printer and the computer are connected to the same network.

Try to print.

Keep me posted.

Cheers:)

After I attempt to run the wireless setup wizard, I just receive an error message saying "the printer has lost the connection" and then gives me the option of printing out "help" ... which isn't help at all, it's just general network configuration information...

Is there anyone here that can assist me? I really need my printer to operate for work and not even my internet company knows what the issue is.

I suggest you do a Hard Reset on the printer

(1) Turn the printer on, if it is not already on.

(2) Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.

(3) With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.

(4) Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.

(5) Wait at least 60 seconds.

(6) Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

NOTE: HP recommends connecting the printer power cord directly to the wall outlet.

(7) Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.

(8) Turn on the printer, if it does not automatically turn on.

The printer might go through a warm-up period. The printer lights might flash, and the carriage might move.

Wait until the warm-up period finishes and your printer is idle and silent before you proceed.

Update the firmware for the printer using this link: https://support.hp.com/in-en/product/hp-photosmart-c4100-all-in-one-printer-series/1142450/model/114...

Restart the printer.

Try to connect the printer to the wireless now.

Keep me posted!

Cheers:)

Unfortunately in order to update the firmware directly from my printer I need to be connected to the internet; which is my entire issue.

Per that link: "Supported printers must connect to a wireless or wired network with an active Internet connection to install updates."

And when I try to download the firmware directly from my laptop, I'm unable to find the firmware link, and it tells me this after identifying my printer: "If a Firmware section is not listed, an update is not currently available for your printer."

I've also tried plugging my ethernet cable from my router DIRECTLY into the printer but I still couldn't connect to it. Is there another method?

Appreciate all your efforts.

Let's make some change on the router and check if this works.

Make use of the router user guide and update the firmware of your router.

Change the channel to 1, 6, or 11

Change the mode to b and g

Change the Encryption to WPA2

Check the router band: Many routers can operate in both 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands, but not all HP printers support both bands. Make sure the 2.4 GHz router band is enabled and broadcasting. If the router broadcasts separate network names (SSIDs) for each band, connect the printer to the 2.4 GHz band SSID.

You can also contact your service provider to get these changes done on the router.

Then, try connecting using the Wireless Setup Wizard.

Let men know, how it goes!

Have a great day!

Cheers:)

This method isn't seeming to work either...unless I went about it wrong. Is there not a number I can call to have an agent or someone walk me through it?
