Hi. Everything was working fine on my printer until this morning. I selected an item to print off my computer (hard wired to the mac) and nothing happened.  I then tried to copy a document by scanning, and it says scan in progress but does not scan anything it just says scanning without making noise or actually scanning the document. When I hit scan preview, it does provide a preview but will not print it. I have reset it to factory settings via the menu for all items (copy/scan/fax/network) three times, and unplugged for more than 60 seconds multiple times but it hasn't helped.  

 

There are no pending print jobs, and nothing new happened.  All it says on the display screen is "copying page 1/1".

Update the printer firmware

Download available firmware updates from the HP website

With the printer on and connected to the computer, go to HP Customer Support - Software and Driver Downloads, and then identify your printer. Look for and install any available firmware updates. Refer to the document HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware

 

If you still have issues, the only option left is to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer. 

 

The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may brick the device.
