This did not work for me.  My printer printed half the document in color and then just stopped.  Everything after that, even the test page is in black and white.  I'm about to throw this useless thing in the trash!

I have a HP office Jet 3830.  All of a sudden it has stopped printing in color.  When I open up the device settings, its has the color button marked.

Here is what i had to do to get mine to work.

Please uninstall the Printer Driver.

  • In Windows, search for and open Programs and features
    2.) Select your HP Printer
    3.) Select Uninstall
4.) In Windows, search for and open Devices and printers
5.) In the Devices and Printers windows look for your HP printer. If you see it listed right-click on it and choose ‘Delete’ or ‘Remove Device’

  • In the Type Here to search on Win 10, type PRINTER and your printer file should be listed. Go to it and highlight the printer and click on Remove Device.
  • Reboot computer
  • Go to the following link.

https://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/hp-officejet-3830-all-in-one-printer-seri...

NOTE: You may get a "I'M Sorry" on the page  BUT click on the "Software and Drivers link in the top toolbar.

Select the printer picture and type in HP 3830 and choose:  HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer series.

  • Choose the Driver-Product Installation Software , it will have a  green recommended under it:  Scroll down and click on install.

I had to do this for mine to start again.

Another problem I keep getting it the printer goin off Line. I have to type in Printer in Search as noted above, then  click on the printer and Manage and start the Troubleshooter. That usually works BUT if not I unplug the printer, after 10 seconds plug it back in while rebooting my computer.

I know, why not jus get a new printer? I guess i like it and maybe the challenge too 🙂

I'm not even going to ask why steps 1-7 solved this problem.  Used up a few trees and lots of black ink before stumbling across this solution.  Thank you Kumar!
