My Officejet 4620 stopped printing from my Mac laptop. I am connecting with USB cable. It behaves normally as thought it will print but get message "Waiting for printer to become available." And nothing prints. It will scan documents. I have followed steps on HP support of deleting and reinstalling printer and drivers using HP Easy start. When I add the printer, it will show up in my printer list with a green dot and say it is idle. As soon as I try to print something, the above message shows up in the print que and nothing happens and the printer then has a yellow dot and says "in use." I have turned everything off, disconnected and reconnected but it doesn't help.
I recently had the issue with Catalina software and HP drivers and was getting the messages "PDE.plug in" will damage your computer. I followed steps to fix that and am no longer getting that message. I don't know if my current issue is related. Thanks for any ideas!!

@eaw1001, Welcome to the HP Support Community!
- Which application are you trying to print from?
- Have you tried printing different types of documents like PDF, Word, or Webpages and check if the issue persists?
If you are using a USB cable, make sure the cable is directly connected between the MAC and the printer.
The use of a USB hub is not recommended. Also, make sure the cable is connected to a USB 2.0 port on your MAC.
Do you have an Anti-virus/firewall installed on the MAC?
You may check this in System Information > Applications. If yes, disable the same and then try printing to check if that helps.
- Check if the printer is getting recognized by your MAC:
- From the Apple menu, choose About This Mac.
- Click System Report.
- Under the Hardware heading on the left side of the System Information window, click USB.
USB 3 devices appear under USB 3.0 Bus, and USB 2 devices appear under USB 2.0 Bus. The printer should be under the USB 2.0 Bus
Update the printer firmware
Click here to download and install the latest printer firmware from your MAC.
Click here to know different methods of updating printer firmware.
Also, check for any software updates on MAC
Click the Apple icon > About This Mac > Software Update and install any available update.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
