HP OfficeJet 4650 All-in-One Printer

Set up the printer, took the tape off the included ink cartridges and installed them, tried to print the alignment page and a test page.  The printer seemed to work, put the page that came out had no printing on it.

Hi @SteveJ10,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 4650 is printing blank pages even after installing the ink cartridges, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Ink Cartridges:

  • Make sure the cartridges are installed correctly. Remove and reseat them to ensure a proper connection.
  • Verify that the protective tape was completely removed from the cartridges, especially from the nozzles.

Run Printer Diagnostics:

  • Use the printer's control panel to run a print quality diagnostic or self-test. This can help identify any issues with the cartridges or print head.

Clean Print Head:

  • Go to the printer settings (either via the control panel or HP Smart app) and find the option to clean the print head. This can help clear any clogs that may be causing the blank pages.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Ensure that the ink levels are adequate. If the cartridges are new, they should be full, but double-check through the printer settings or HP Smart app.

Update Firmware:

  • Make sure your printer's firmware is up to date. You can do this via the printer's settings menu or through the HP support website.

Test Different Paper:

  • Sometimes, using the wrong type of paper or paper that is too thick can cause printing issues. Use standard printer paper for your tests.

Reset the Printer:

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, wait for about 60 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Look for any error messages on the printer's display that might provide more insight into the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
