I have an older HP Officejet 4650 printer that displayed an error message and when I hit the power button to reset, the printer will not turn on. I have completed all steps provided in on-line forums to "reset" the printer, but it still will not turn on. Are there additional steps to try in an effort to get the printer to turn on, can this printer be repaired, and/or is it time to replace?

Hi @DenverDad.
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If you've already tried the basic troubleshooting steps and your HP Officejet 4650 printer is still not turning on, here are some additional steps you can consider.
Check Power Source:
- Ensure that the power outlet is working. Try plugging in another device to verify.
- If you are using a power strip, try plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
Inspect Power Cable:
- Check the power cable for any visible damage. If it's damaged, consider replacing it with a new one.
Inspect Power Adapter:
- If your printer has an external power adapter, check it for any signs of damage. Replace it if necessary.
Reset Power Module:
- If your printer has a power module, unplug it from the power source and wait for about 60 seconds. Then, plug it back in and try turning on the printer.
Perform a Hard Reset:
- Disconnect the power cord from the printer while it is still on.
- Disconnect the other end of the power cord from the power source.
- Wait for about 60 seconds.
- Reconnect the power cord to the printer and plug it back into the power source.
- Try turning on the printer.
Check for Physical Obstructions:
- Ensure there are no paper jams or other physical obstructions that could be preventing the printer from turning on.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.

I have followed all of the steps listed in Alden4's post and none of these have worked. My printer does not have an external power adapter, so it must be an internal one. I don't know how to check out the internal adapter, but it appears to me that it is apparently time to replace my old printer. It has served me well for many years and I hate to see it go. One last question - can this printer be repaired and if so, would it be cost effective to do so?

Dear Alden4,
I clicked on the link you provided and there is no link for me to send a request of any form to see if this printer can be repaired. It's just an endless loop of virtual agent or contact "HP community". At this time I think my best option is just to buy a new printer.
