Every time I start up my printer (OfficeJet 5255), I get flashing lights and
ERROR CODE
OXC4EB8021
HW_MICCI2_V12
I cannot access any menus or do anything, it is just frozen. The computer and diagnostic programs from the computer don't recognize the printer either (because it appears to be bricked at the moment).
I've looked up articles on here and every one says that the solution was PM'ed to someone (Why in the world would you ever do that when the point of this is to help people with the same problem?!?)), or to do a hard reset of the printer by pulling out the power cord while it is on, waiting, and then plugging it back in. I have done a hard reset multiple times, using different power outlets, and keep getting the same error.
Also, unconnected, every time I enter the serial number of my printer when prompted on this website, it tells me that it is invalid. I am getting the serial number off of a sticker on the back of the printer clearly labled "Serial No.", so I know it's the right number, it just won't accept it. And yes, I've tried using O's in place of 0's - every permutation.
I'm pulling my hair out here and losing it. Please, someone help me.

Hi @HelpPls12,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I see that you are facing an issue with your printer that has an error.
A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.
1) Take out the cartridges
2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.
3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.
4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.
5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.
Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges
B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.
C) If the issue still persists, Kindly refer to the steps on this link to restore factory defaults.
Please mark this post as “Accepted Solution” if the issue is resolved and if you feel this reply was helpful click “Yes”.
I hope this helps.
