HP OfficeJet 5740 eAll-in-One Printer

I first received a Printer Error to turn off/on to restart. That didn't work. Now it won't turn on with only a green light on in back near the connections. Power cord still works, so it is something internal. Contacting HP only gave me the option of upgrading to another printer. Any other options?

Welcome to HP forums, I see that your printer is not turning on.

  • Is the printer connected directly to the wall outlet?

Perform a power reset on the printer

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet without any surge protector and printer.
  6. Turn on the printer.

If the printer turns on, update the printer firmware

Refer this HP document for the steps to update the printer firmware:- Click here

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for your response. I tried the power reset process to no improvement. Also confirmed the power cord works just fine. The issue is inside the printer, i.e., internal power supply, on/off switch, etc. What can I do other than to go through the upgrade printer process?

Thanks again,

Patrick
