HP OfficeJet 5745 e-All-in-One Printer

This printer had a message on the display that said it had an error and needed to be restarted. When I restarted it the display was a blue screen with numbers on it. I followed all of the various automated tools and troubleshooting steps but always the blue screen appeared, each time with different numbers. From reading ALL the community posts about blue screens I have discovered that I probably need to do a semi full reset. I see I have to get instructions from HP specific to my printer. Would someone please provide me with these instructions? Please note: I can't do anything on the touchscreen display and the only physical button is the power button  Also, this printer is enrolled in Instant Ink. Thank you for your assistance with resolving this issue. I greatly appreciate it

Hi @0-_-0,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To perform a semi-full reset on your HP OfficeJet 5745 e-All-in-One printer, follow these steps:

Important Note:

Performing a semi-full reset will return your printer to its factory default settings, and you may need to reconfigure your printer settings and reconnect it to your network afterward.

Steps for Semi-Full Reset:

Turn Off the Printer:

  • Make sure the printer is turned off. If it is stuck on the blue screen, unplug the power cord from the back of the printer.

Disconnect Power Cord:

  • Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet as well.

Wait for 60 Seconds:

  • Leave the printer unplugged for at least 60 seconds to allow the internal memory to clear.

Plug in the Power Cord:

  • Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.

Press and Hold Buttons:

  • While the printer is still turned off, press and hold the # and 6 buttons on the printer.

Power On the Printer:

  • While holding the # and 6 buttons, press the power button to turn on the printer. Continue holding the buttons until the printer starts to initialize and the display changes.

Release Buttons:

  • Once the printer starts up and you see some activity on the display, release the # and 6 buttons.

Follow On-Screen Instructions:

  • The printer will perform a semi-full reset. Follow any on-screen instructions to complete the setup process.

Reconnect to Network:

  • After the reset, you will need to reconnect the printer to your network. Use the printer’s control panel to configure the wireless settings.

Re-enroll in Instant Ink:

  • Since the printer is enrolled in Instant Ink, you may need to re-enroll in the Instant Ink program after the reset. Follow the instructions on the HP Instant Ink website to complete this process.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
