I have a brand new HP OfficeJet 7740 and have not been able to get the scan to email to work reliably. The other functions seem to work ok, such as scan to computer, but the scan to email only works when it wants too. The main message that I receive is "To use this feature the printer must be connected to the network and internet. Check other devices that are using this connection and make sure they can connect to the internet. Also, try resetting the modem or try turning off the router and the printer, and then turning them on again – the router first, and then the printer. Touch “print Report” to diagnose the problem or “OK” to exit." I have tried to diagnose and nothing is wrong, I tried HP Scan Dr and it says everything is fine. I have an internet connection, and even while showing this message, the internet light on the touch panel is all blue.
Not sure if it matters, but our router has a static IP address. This does not seem to effect the printing or scan to PC features.
Please help before I return this to the store

Welcome to HP support community.
Perform a power reset
- Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
- Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
- With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
- Wait at least 30 seconds.
- Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
- Turn on the printer.
Update the printer firmware
