OfficeJet 8014
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

1. Principal Consistent fault: carriage jam (WITHOUT ANY PAPER JAM).

2. Occasional fault: won't scan

3. Occasional fault: HP Smart App cannot find printer

Yes, the printer will work from time to time after a carriage jam if I undertake a hard reset but how many times in one week should any printer need a hard reset just to make it work?  By the way, the cartridges are full.

Look forward to receiving some advice on this.

@AQUILA_CANTAB, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Is this a false error message? Does the carriage move freely?

Kindly perform the steps mentioned in this document to resolve the carriage jam error -  'Carriage Jam' or 'E3' Error Displays

there could be network connectivity issues due to which HP Smart app is not recognizing the printer.

Restart the wireless router, the printer, and the PC

  • Make sure the printer and the PC are connected to the same wireless network.
  • This printer supports only 2.4GHz network. So, the PC should be on the 2.4GHz network.
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both the networks.

Try printing and scanning.

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
