I am having difficulties with my printer wanting to print to tray 2 and the printer decides that it wants to print to tray 1...it's like it knows better than me. I have done the following:

  • Restarted my printer
  • Changed the tray preferences
  • Locked Tray 1
  • Selected Tray 2 as the default

DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM

  • On the print dialogue box:
  • Went to media and selected the correct size that type of paper
  • Selected "Main" tray - after still printing on the incorrect tray, I have changed the the tray selection back and forth.
  • Swore at my printer
  • Swore at HP Smart because I can't make any changes there since I always get an error message (again, not the first time HP Smart has done this...and, yes I called support to help)
  • Yes, I have uninstalled and reinstalled

DIDN'T FIX THE PROBLEM

  • Yes, I have spend endless hours on the phone, chat, even Facebook messenger and no solution , and the recipient of a "I don't give a F***" attitude from HP customer service. Or, starting from the beginning of the agents book, EVERY. **bleep**. TIME. I call only to get to the point of "there does not seem to be a solution" answers, only to be cut off the phone. Oh yeah, did I mention that one of your agents was walking on the streets to catch a public transport and mysteriously cuts my phone call when I hear them greeting the operator of said transport? Then when I call back surprisingly, the support is closed and won't be available to Monday? By the way, your hours of operation are horrible.
  • I've thought about throwing my printer across the room but instead have only given it a strong talking to, and it still doesn't comply. So, needless to say, I am not liking HP products or customer service. I'm even thinking about chucking this printer to buy a new printer which is not a HP. Before, HP and my Mac worked beautifully together...now, not so much.

  • My operating system: Catalina 10.15.7
  • It would be wonderful to get a tech who is actually able to fix my problem, not your first line phone answer-er. I'm hoping for a solution to my problem above and maybe some fixes to your products. Don't cheap out on iOS functionality, please.
