I am printing some two-sided pages, where the diagrams have to be cut out after printing. Problem is that the top margin between the front and the back page is not the same, and the drawings are misaligned. I am using an OfficeJet Pro 7740, but I have also tried it on other OfficeJet printers, with the same result.
Is there any way to make the front and back page align when printed?

@JPingel
Welcome to the HP Forums 🙂 I would like to take a moment and thank you for using this forum, it is a great place to find answers.
Before we get into troubleshooting, I would like to ask you a few questions to get a clear picture of what's going on with the Printer.
1. From which application are you trying to print?
2. What is the paper size and type you're using to print?
Please print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page and let me know how it looks:
-
Load plain white paper in the input tray.
-
On the printer control panel, swipe down to open the Dashboard, and then touch the Setup icon
.
-
Swipe up on the display, touch Reports, and then touch Print Quality Report.
Example of a Print Quality Diagnostic Page
Thanks 🙂

RE: 1. From which application are you trying to print?
I have printed from Word, and also tried to do the same from Adobe Acrobat.
- the the same result
RE: 2. What is the paper size and type you're using to print?
I am printing in standard Letter Portrait
RE: Please print a Print Quality Diagnostic Page and let me know how it looks:
The diagnostics look good for my OfficeJet Pro 7740. I am not close to the printer right now, and can't share the latest diagnostics. The problem is really not the printing alignment on a single page, but the alignment between printing normally from top to bottom, compared to printing from bottom to top (which is how the second page is printed for duplex printing)
What I am looking for is some alignment setting that would adjust for the offset on where to start printing the second (back) page.

You may follow this document to find some settings: https://support.hp.com/in-en/document/c02227495
On clicking go to "Layout and formatting settings"
Hope this helps.

I didn't find anything re. my issue in the attached link. I expected to maybe find something in the Layout and Formatting section. The section has a reference to printing on both sides, but it only specifies how to set up duplex printing. There is nothing about the alignment of the starting point of printing on the back page when printing from the bottom to the top of the page.
I hope you can escalate this to someone that works with the firmware of the printer, and that already knows about this problem and how it has been resolved in the past (there are several similar posts on the topic on this site, but none with an acceptable solution - all of them mainly talks about running thru the printhead alignment process, updating the firmware to the latest version, or the driver software on the computer, etc.)
I just can't believe that this is not a topic that HP would be concerned about with all their duplex-capable printers. Having a 1/4" or less offset between the front and back page of the print cannot be acceptable to anyone.
Please help. Thanks
BTW: I have attached the Print Quality report as requested.
