HP OfficeJet Pro 6968
macOS 10.12 Sierra

My OfficeJet has been connected to my wireless router with no issue for three months. Even after turning it on and off manually, the printer would have no difficulty remaining connected to the internet. I unplugged the printer (while it was off) and plugged it in again to a surge protector. Now, it will not connect to the internet, even though the wireless password is correct.

I have already tried to restore Network Settings with no help to the situation. Other devices are able to connect to the router with no issue.

Hi,

Thanks for using the HP Forums.

Have send you a Private message to reset your printer. Hopefully that will resolve your issue.

Look out for the envelope icon at the top right hand corner of the forum page.

Let us know if that works.

Hello, I tried the suggestions you included in your private message and responded to your latest message with no response. Nothing has worked.

Anyone have suggestions? Otherwise, I am contacting HP for a replacement as my warranty is still active.

Hi,

Have you tried connecting without a surge protector?

Thanks.

Yes, as you already asked in me in the private messages, I have connected without surge protector straight to the wall. I have connected with a different surge protector. I have tried reseting anything and everything I can. It still will not connect. This is now almost four months of my printer not being able to operate.

Hi @alexldeon,

Let's try these troubleshooting steps:

Solve wireless problems

1. Make sure the printer is not connected to the network through an Ethernet cable
Wireless does not work if the printer is connected to the network through an Ethernet cable. Disconnect the
Ethernet cable from the printer.

2. Make sure the wireless light is turned on
If the blue light on the printer control panel is not lit, wireless might be turned off. To turn on wireless, touch
or swipe down the tab at the top of a screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless), touch
(Settings). Touch Wireless Settings, and then touch Wireless to turn it on.
If the blue wireless light is blinking, it means the printer is not connected to a network. Use the Wireless Setup
Wizard available from the printer control panel to make a wireless connection. Touch or swipe down the tab at
the top of a screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch (Wireless), touch (Settings). Touch Wireless
Settings, touch Wireless Setup Wizard, and then follow the onscreen instructions.

3. Make sure the computer or the mobile device is connected to the wireless network
Make sure your computer or mobile device is connected to your wireless network. If you cannot connect the
computer to the network, contact the person who set up your network or the router manufacturer; there might
be a hardware issue with the router or computer.

4. Restart components of the wireless network
Turn off the router and the printer, and then turn them back on in this order: router first and then printer.
Sometimes, turning off devices and then turning them back on helps resolve network communication issues.
If you still cannot connect, turn off the router, the printer, and the computer, and then turn them back on in this
order: router first, then printer, and then computer

I am using a Mac OS 10.13.3. The printer was functioning great and then without warning or erro message will not connect to the internet. I have resstarted it and even pulled the power plug and tried to reset.

Your expertise was much appreciated since I've been working on this problem for the last 6 hours.  In essence I couldn't print from my mac laptop, but no problem with my PC.  Msg. was not connected.  I recently had to replace my router and the problem probably appeared then.

Apparently the new router didn't recognize  my printer as I had to access the printer display and  initiate the connection to the router network and sign in with  the network password.  A simple step that wasn't required with the previous router.

Thank U , Hal
