Hi, my printer won’t start. I tested the socket, I tested the cable fuse. I tested the cable output and it has power.

i tried to disconnect the cable and hold for 30s the power button, plugged the cable back and hold again for 30s and after one press and with no luck. Any thoughts please?

Hi @Andrei_88 ,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you've already tested the power socket, cable fuse, and performed a basic reset, let's go through some additional troubleshooting steps:

1. Try a Different Power Cable

Since you've confirmed power in the cable, the issue might be the power adapter itself. If you have a compatible power cable from another HP printer (same voltage and wattage), try using that.

2. Check for Power Supply Issues

  • Unplug the power cord from the printer and the wall outlet.
  • Wait for 5 minutes to allow any internal capacitors to discharge.
  • Plug the cable directly into a different wall socket (avoid power strips or surge protectors).
  • Press the power button again.

3. Inspect the Printer’s Power Port

Look inside the printer’s power socket for:

  • Bent or broken pins.
  • Debris or dust—clean it with compressed air if needed.

4. Check for a Faint Light or Sound

  • Plug in the printer and check if you see any faint LED light on the power button or near the power input.
  • Listen for any faint clicking sounds when pressing the power button.

5. Perform a Hard Reset Again

  • Unplug the printer completely for at least 10 minutes.
  • While unplugged, press and hold the power button for 1 minute to discharge residual power.
  • Reconnect everything and try again.

6. Internal Power Supply Failure

If the printer still does not turn on, the issue may be with:

  • The internal power supply unit (possible failure).
  • A mainboard issue inside the printer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
