Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
The error code "71.02.4A" on your HP OfficeJet Pro 8020 printer typically indicates a problem with the printhead. Here’s how you can troubleshoot and potentially resolve this issue:
Steps to Resolve Error Code 71.02.4A:
Restart the Printer:
- Turn off the printer using the power button.
- Unplug the power cord from the printer and wait for about 60 seconds.
- Plug the power cord back into the printer and turn it on.
Check for Obstructions:
- Open the printer’s top cover and check for any obstructions in the printhead path, such as paper jams or debris.
- Remove any obstructions carefully.
Inspect Printhead and Cartridges:
- Open the printer’s top cover and wait for the carriage to move to the access area.
- Check the printhead and ink cartridges for any visible damage or leaks.
- Ensure that the printhead and cartridges are properly installed and seated.
Reset the Printhead:
- Sometimes resetting the printhead can resolve issues. Here’s how:
- Remove the printhead and cartridges from the printer.
- Clean the electrical contacts on the printhead and cartridges with a lint-free cloth lightly moistened with distilled water.
- Allow the contacts to dry for about 10 minutes.
- Reinstall the printhead and cartridges back into the printer.
Update Printer Firmware:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Firmware updates can sometimes resolve hardware-related issues.
- Visit the HP Support website, enter your printer model, and download the latest firmware if available.
- Follow the instructions provided to install the firmware update on your printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
