I had called after a lot of research, the HP support. I got a person on the phone and described my problem with my HP 8600 printer purchased in 2014.
Issue: my network card on the printer was disabled for no apparent reason. This is what was displayed on the printer everytime I went to attemp to connect it to my wifi, etc. Even if i used an eithernet cable, it would not. Bascially, the networking capabilities of the printer was turned off aka disabled. I explained all of this to the HP support and she told me my printer was too old and I have to buy another one. I did not believe her. I contacted bestbuy geek squad. We worked together only to find out there is a different admin menu that is not easy to get too. You have to hit the 'home' button one followed by 3 pushes of the 'return' arrow button on the left side of the display screen. This in turn opens up an admin menu, we selected network and changed it from 'disabled' to 'enabled' and all my networking came back online.
I have no idea why my printer all of sudden did this after all these years. The printer is like new as we seldom use it but do need it around tax season. Anyway, we got it fixed but I am a bit angered by HP Support!! How can they not know the correct answer assuming they have more access to more info than I do. She bascially told me I needed to buy a new machine when this one works just fine. OH and they still charge $140 for new ink, ridiculous!
