Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

This has happened to me occasionally in the past, but now it has occurred three times today.  Out of the corner of my eye, the display shows a bright blue background, then everything starts flashing:

"There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On."

I have to turn it off with the power button, which then returns it to a normal state for a while again.  However, this process repeats before too long.

I have the latest firmware installed - nothing I can see newer as of 8 Jul 2021.  I have unplugged it, and have even tried it in a different outlet.  This has not changed the behavior.

Hi @handyrandyrc,

I'd like to help!

I understand you are receiving a Problem with the printer error.

This does seem like a firmware error.

I'd recommend a factory reset on the printer.

  • The reset instructions are specific for your printer and performing those steps on a different printer may corrupt the device.
  • I've sent you a private message with reset instructions, follow the reset instruction to perform a full reset and re-initialize the printer.
  • In order to access your private messages, click the private message icon on the upper right corner of your HP Support Community profile, next to your profile Name or simply click on this link: https://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/notes/privatenotespage

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Jay_G24,

Would you be able to send me the reset instructions as well?   I have an HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 and have recently begun having the same issues as the OP.
