Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP OfficeJet Pro 817 is stuck on the Question Mark on the on-Screen display. I've already done the hard reset (unplugging, reseating all the ink cartridges, restarting. The printer IS printing. No errors show up anywhere, HP Smart connects fine, finds no problems when diagnosing, etc.  I've opened every, door, every corner, checked for paper, dust, nothing. Besides, it's NOT throwing any error codes. Any other suggestions on how to fix this? I first noticed this however when my printer wasn't printing and showing as offline (even though HP Smart WAS connecting and showing it ready.) I cleared out the queue, reset the spoller, and all that usual rigmarole. Eventually, I just deleted and re-installed the printer. Now it prints, but the question mark remains on all the time, and the home and back don't show until I press the question mark.

Connection:  ethernet only, no wifi

Did not help. See my private response to your private message. Also not sure why all the cloak and dagger is neccessary. The ability to access the underware and other hidden submenus on HP products is no secret and is referenced on support forums all over the internet.
