After using the initial set of ink cartridges on purchase, I am changing ink cartridges for first time. The 3 color ink cartridges depleted about a month ago but I still had black ink so I used B&W, and elected to "X" out the "low ink" warning on the printer touch screen each print job until finally the Black ink cartridge emptied.
I only bought a new black cartridge and when I inserted correctly into the carriage, I can't get anything to print. I left the old color print cartridges in place but I get an error message and constant banner across Printer screen that "cartridges depleted..must replace cartridge" But I am only printing B&W. I've tried restarting both the printer and the HP Smart app on my MacBook. Help 🙂
Any troubleshooting ideas are appreciated! Thanks, Tony

This printer requires that all the ink cartridges have ink in then in order to protect the printhead from damage.

Indeed, it is required to have all ink cartridges with ink to allow printing with your printer model.
