I've searched and searched and performed multiple suggestions from this board and other sources to no avail. I am running Windows 11, fully up-to-date with updates, and have a wireless networked HP OfficeJet Pro 9010 series printer that I've owned for several years now and have had relatively few problems with it - until now. I can print to it from my iPhone and by sending and email to its "hpeprint.com" email address but I can no longer print to it from my desktop computer that sits right next to the printer. I can ping it from my desktop, HPSmart recognizes it and provides me with information on the printer but I cannot print. I've opened the print queue and can see my print job activate and my printer goes through its pre-print activities but then the print job is deleted and the printer goes back into idle mode. Here's some things I've tried:
- unplugged the printer for several minutes, pressed the power button for about 1 minute, plugged the printer back on and nada, no change;
- uninstalled the printer and all of its related software, rebooted my computer, ran some PC cleanup software that identifies and will remove invalid registry items just to ensure all of the references to the printer were removed during the uninstall, downloaded the latest software for my printer and installed it, again nothing changed;
- checked the security settings on the printer to ensure anyone could print to it although I'm the only one that uses my desktop and am an admin, again nothing changed;
- attempted to change the setting of "Spool print documents so program finishes printing faster/Start printing immediately" to "Print directly to the printer" but this option is grayed out and I can't change to it;
- turned my VPN off but that doesn't help either; and
- Shook my fist at both the printer and my computer 🙂 but that doesn't help either
Does anyone have any other suggestions to try? I have no idea what has changed that's causing this problem.

Welcome to the HP English Community --
If the issue is not buried too deeply in Windows, it's generally possible to resolve this kind of problem.
Perhaps add / review the following checkpoints.
An incomplete but interesting list of "Try / Consider" --
- Clear the folder and Rebuild the Printer Spooler - Print Queue / Print Service Reset
and
- Recheck the Temp folder permissions used for Print jobs
Print_Services_Print_Spooler_Temp_Folder_Permissions_4
and...
- Shudder -- Perhaps avoid using Registry Cleaners in Windows 11 -- Personal opinion, you do you.
- Review the router logs - it is not likely you will see a magic entry that "explains all" - worth a quick check
- Perhaps restart the router, too.
- Check that Windows Updates are current. If Updates are installed and / or "Pending Restart", do restart Windows
- If not done, consider (after other changes and if nothing is working) >> Uninstall / Reinstall the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software. Details are included later in this message.
- Check that Printer Properties > tab Advanced > section Driver is set to use the HP driver (not Microsoft or IPP driver).

Printer Software
If you have not yet done so, install the Full Feature Software / full driver printer software.
HP Full Feature Software / Full Driver printer software - supports printing and scanning from the web, printing in in other software and programs (for example, Word), and provides access to the full range of Printing Preferences / Shortcuts. The full driver generally adds at one, possibly least one, possibly two shortcuts to the Desktop: Printer Assistant, HP Scan Assistant, and/or HP Scan.
NOTES:
HP Scan is not installed if the printer does not support Scan.
The Printer Assistant is not installed if the type of full driver software does not support it. If the printer model includes built-in Fax hardware, the software supports the setup and use of the Fax driver.
No Sign-in required to use full driver printer software.
Reinstalling?
- Uninstall existing full driver printer software from Programs and Features.
- If your printer includes a separate "help" in Programs and Features, uninstall that, too.
- Restart the computer and log in.
- If the printer is connected to the computer using a printer USB cable, remove / disconnect the cable before loading the software.

HP Easy Start Printer Setup Software – Offline Use Only
In general, the web pack should load -
Download package > Save > Right-Click on the installation Package > Run as Administrator
If / When asked, opt for the Full Driver / Full Software to be installed.
Using USB? (Re)Connect when instructed to do so.
After the software is installed, Restart the computer and sign in.

Thank you for the detailed information. I learned some new things from it but didn't fix my issue. I even went so far as to extensively and meticulously conduct a "regedit" and remove all references to "deskjet" and "Hewlett Packard" (as a side benefit I found some entries for an old printer I had years ago and removed those entries as well). I then downloaded and installed the entire "HP Smart" installation package. Everything looked OK until I attempted to print - same result as before. A new "clue" that surfaced was that the .tmp files created when I attempted to print couldn't be deleted, even after stopping the "print spooler" service and I received an error message that the file was being used by "printfilterpipelinesvc.exe". Researching this process/service didn't reveal a lot, other than it could become corrupted or even replaced with malware. I searched my "C" drive to find all instances of it, after one website said there should only be one instance under "C;\Windows\System32", but I found 5 instances of it (the other 4 being in 4 subdirectories of "C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64...". Their sizes differ as follows:
- C:\Windows\System32 660KB
- C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd64_<long directory names> 660 KB, 118 KB, 117 KB and 660 KB
I ran the following command as administrator to see if it might identify and restore the correct file:
- DISM.exe /Online /Cleanup-image /Restorehealth
Returned the message "The operation completed successfully" but did not fix my problem.
I then ran the following command as administrator cmd:
- sfc /scannow
Returned the message "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."
I just now got "lucky?" and was watching my processes in "Task Manager" and saw the "printfilterpipelinesvc" pop up and under "Status" it very, very briefly showed "Suspended". I can't find any info on why this would happen but I'm beginning to believe it's this process/service that's causing my issue.
Any ideas/thoughts on how to fix/replace the "printfilterpipelinesvc.exe" file? The date on all 5 of mine are the same, 12/7/2024, but I have no idea what I might have done on that date to cause this.
Thank you in advance, anyone, that might have ideas/thoughts.

Don't know what happened to my reply from 2-3 hours ago so I'll try to reconstruct it.
Thank you for this extensive information - I learned some things from it - but it, unfortunately, did not fix my issue.
After trying your recommendations, here's what I've since tried.
Performed an extensive - and exhaustive - manual regedit and removed all entries for "Officejet" and "Hewlett Packard". I also removed all folders having to do with the printer. Rebooted and did a full install of the HP Smart installation package. Same problem I originally described - my printer makes the initialization/mechanical noise like it's going to feed paper and print but then stops.
One thing new is that I got an error concerning "printfilterpipelinesvc.exe". I did some research and found that this should only be in the "C:\Windows\System32". I searched for it and found 4 copies of it, the 1 in System32 but 3 others in "C:\Windows\WinSxS\amd65<long directory strings>". They had the following sizes:
- System32 660 KB
--WinSxS 118 KB, 117 KB and 660 KB
I also found 4 copies of "printfilterpipelineprxy.dll" all 4 under the WinSxS folder.
I did get "lucky?" as I watched the print job go into the "System32\spool\printers" folder and saw where the printfilterpipelinesvc.exe was "suspended". This showed up very, very briefly. I cannot even print a test page.
I get the feeling it has something to do with this file as I can still print from my phone and via email, both of which bypass the printing services on my desktop.
I ran, from an admin cmd window: "DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth" and it did not report any issues.
I then ran, “DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth” anyway just in case - no issues.
So, I ran "SFC /scannow" and it also did not report any issues.
I don't think trying a different printer will make a difference but might move my wife's over and give it a try.
Anyone have any other ideas/thought/suggestions?
Thank you in advance for your time and input.
