HP - for some reason you seem to have gone quiet on this issue, and recently locked the previous thread that had an outstanding number of requests for reset instructions - which seems to be the only way to fix this problem.

Something is seriously the matter with these printers - mine is unusable.  It would be very helpful if you could try and be a bit more forthcoming about the problem and what - if anything - can be done to solve it.  This is a relatively recently purchased printer, that replaced an older HP OfficeJet model that was rock solid for many years.

Thanks.

Thanks for the instructions but they did not help - the dreaded B305DFF9 screen came back almost immediately.

BUT - here's what has worked.  It is possible to do a factory reset using the imbedded web server functionality - i.e., by logging into your printer via a web browser.  This on a Mac network with the HP9020 connected wirelessly.

1. Go to System Preferences>Printers and Scanners [select the printer]>Options and Supplies>Show Printer Web Page...  It may warn you about security settings and require a password but once you're through that it will open a web server page.

2. On the web server page, select the "Settings" menu

3. Open "Restore Defaults from the menus on the left, and select "Restore Factory Defaults"

I followed this procedure, reset the printer and it has been working happily and blue screen free for several weeks now.  It's worth a try and doesn't require HP to provide you with customised reset instructions.

Good luck.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are getting B305DFF9 on the printer, follow these steps to fix the issue.

Perform a power reset

  1. Turn on the printer, if it is not already on.
  2. Wait until the printer is idle and silent before you continue.
  3. With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  4. Wait at least 30 seconds.
  5. Plug back the power cable straight to a wall outlet and printer without any surge protector.
  6. Turn on the printer.

Update the printer firmware

Here are the steps:- Click here

Let me know how it goes.
