Help, I am locked out of my printer. Everything is grayed out on the touchscreen on the printer so I am unable to connect to wifi. It says it has been locked by the person who set up the printer, which doesn't make sense because I am the person who set up the printer. I have a HP OFFICEJET 9025

Hi @SOMELO1,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 is locked due to the printer's security settings. This can happen if the administrator settings were activated, either intentionally or by accident. Here are a few steps you can try to regain access:
Reset Using the Touchscreen: If you are still able to navigate some menus, try to find a reset option. This might not be available, but it's worth checking before more drastic measures.
Hard Reset: If you cannot access any menus due to the lock, you might need to perform a hard reset. For many HP printers, you can reset them by turning them off, then unplugging the power cord for about a minute. After plugging it back in, turn the printer on. Note that this might not reset administrative settings but is worth a try.
Access via HP Smart App or Software: If you have the HP Smart app installed on your computer or smartphone, try accessing the printer settings through the app. Sometimes, you can unlock or change settings from the software even if the printer itself is locked.
Default Factory Reset: For a more comprehensive reset, you might need to restore the printer to its factory settings. This can usually be done through a specific combination of buttons, but the exact method can vary by model. For the OfficeJet Pro 9025, you typically need to access the printer's boot menu. Here’s a general guide on how to try this:
- Turn off the printer.
- Turn it back on while holding down the lower right corner of the touchscreen. Keep holding it until the reset menu appears.
- Follow the prompts to reset the printer.
Consult the User Manual: The user manual for your HP OfficeJet Pro 9025 might have specific instructions for unlocking the printer or resetting its settings. You can usually find digital copies of HP printer manuals online at the HP website.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
