Microsoft Windows 11

Hello,

I have a issue with a new HP laptop where Windows 11 pro is installed. The printerdriver that is on the internet (latest one) was installed and it was no issue to print in color. Suddenly after a few weeks  the laptop can only print in black&white (gray scale) so a print with a color logo wil be printed in gray scale.

Printing to the same printer from another Windows laptop  in color is no problem so 100% sure that the printer is working like it shouild be.

When checking the printer Officejet 3830 preferences there is no option found to print in Gray scale / Black & White or in Color it is like this option has been lost and Windows thinks that the printer has no color option.

The printer is connected thru the Wifi. On the Windows 11 pc (Probook 450  I5 Gen10) i have deinstalled the HP officejet software , rebooted the laptop and reinstalled the software again.

Issue is not resolved cannot print in color and the option in the printer settings is also not there. Not in the HP printer settings or in the Windows print preferences.

I have runned the HP print Doctor but there everything seems to be ok when printing the print quality page where the vertical color bars are printed they are also in gray scale so it is not complete black&white but the color cartridge is not used for the print. From the other laptop no problem so the printer is 100% sure ok.(i dont know if this is Win 10 of Win 11)

So it must be a software issue in the HP driver i think. Maybe update Windows 11 that has done some changes .

Anyone with a working suggestion ?

Thanks

Hello,

The Officejet is 100% ok since it is possible to print in color from another laptop over the same wifi network.

So the problem is 100% sure on the new Laptop where windows 11 pro is installed.

I has worked without any problem and suddenly after +- 1 mont use the issue is there.

I have removed the HP print software by uninstalling the software from the control panel - Uninstall software from the installed software list. After the uninstall was completed i have rebooted the laptop and reinstalled the software again.

No difference printing from this laptop is not in color the colors are printed in gray scale.

But what is strange is that when looking in the printer properties the option Color - Gray - Black-White is not found so it is not possible to select this item in de printer preferences. I have checked every print options on the printer settings i cannot find any option for color / Black White ,...

So there must be a issue there and the laptop is set to Gray Scales i think.

Can you give me advise if there is a solution to uninstall the HP Ofifcejet driver completly so that there is nothing left after the uninstall. I think that the settings where still there after removing the software and so used again when installing the software again.

Thanks

Hi @dcaub

You can run a complete diagnostic check on the printer from the HP print and scan doctor app here, isolate the issue.

Once downloaded, open the tool, click on add printer on top and select your printer and click on fix printing option and follow the on screen instructions to complete the diagnostic test and resolve the same.

Hello, Already done this . Result was that everything was correct. So this is also no solution.

What i find strange is that when going to the properties of the printer there is no option to change color-Grayscale- Black&White this option is not in the list of option.

From the other Pc there is no problem so 100% sure that the problem is on the new Windows 11 laptop and nothing wrong with the printer.

Is there a solution to complete the HP driver not uninstall since there are some things that stays in the register of windows. Maybe a uninstall option to force complete delete of everything.

Thanks

Hello,

Windows 11 is up to date no new updates are available. 😞

Dont know what i can try anymore .

Already removed the HP software , restarted the laptop , reinstalled the latest HP software again .

Printer print and scan . Print is in black&White /Gray  when selecting to print in color.

From other laptop no problem to the same printer so the printer is 100% ok.

Any advise is welcome.

Thanks
