Our networked Officejet 4650 printer has had nothing but a blue screen after (we believe) we put it in hibernation and tried to turn it back on. We have tried removing the power cord and then plugging everything back in. For similar cases you have suggested updating the firmware - but is there a way to update the firmware without having a usable screen? In any case auto firmware update had been selected. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Solved. Not sure if this will work every time, but the basic sequence that worked is below. Not sure which if any steps are essential, this is just my recollection of what I did before the printer powered up correctly again.
1. Pull the plug and power down the printer.
2. Power up the printer.
3. Open the ink compartment, then the scanner. Not sure if I need to do both, neither, or just one. Just see if I could bring it back from hibernation. Didn't work.
4. Pull the plug and power down the printer.
5. Connect with USB to a Windows 10 (HP), I didn't power up.
6. Deleted the existing 4650 printer in Windows.
7. Plug in the power (blue screen doesn't turn back on).
8. Press power button on printer.

As luck would have it I needed to move our printer again tonight. Here is the process I followed to turn it off and turn it back on...
1. Press the off button.
2. Screen says getting ready to sleep, Yes or Cancel. (These weren't the exact options). Choose yes.
3. Unplug and move computer.
4. Plug computer back in and get blue screen.
5. Connect USB to Windows 10 Laptop, go to add printer menu. Choose "printer not found" and enter parameters manually.
6. Set up a USB connection to the port with the printer.
7. Unplug printer.
8. Plug in printer - no blue screen!
9. Press power button and start normally.
