My HP Officejet 4655 printer has a carriage jam. I've tried all of the recommended fixes that I've read on this forum, but none worked. Is my printer finished or is there another alternative to fix the issue.
Thanks!

By trying various things, I fixed the printer.
I tried all of the resets and fixes recommended by HP but none worked. After thoroughly cleaning the inside of the printer with a dust cloth/rag, I was able to move the carriage manually. However, the error still occurred. I once again tried the reset to no avail. I took the print cartridges out and re-inserted them. Again, to no avail.
I had noticed the black cartridge was someone stuck and took a little more to get out of the holder. I removed the black and color cartridges again and did the reset again. This time I got a new error - "Service Station Stalled." Once again, I took the cartridges out and reset it. I closed the printer up and reset. This time the carriage reset and the new error message was gone. However, when I tried to print, I got a print error 'x061000072', indicating a cartridge issue. I took the cartridges out once more and restarted the printer. It worked!

Hi @Spidey7
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
A carriage jam in a printer can be frustrating, but there are several steps you can take to try and resolve the issue. Here are troubleshooting steps for fixing a carriage jam on an HP OfficeJet 4655 All-In-One Printer:
Turn off the printer:
- Make sure the printer is turned off before attempting any troubleshooting.
Check for obstructions:
- Open the printer cover and check for any obstructions in the carriage path. This could include paper scraps, foreign objects, or anything that may be blocking the carriage's movement.
Move the carriage manually:
- Gently move the carriage from one side to the other to check for any obstructions or sticking points. Be careful not to force it.
Reset the printer:
- Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord, and wait for a few minutes. Then, plug the power cord back in and turn on the printer.
Inspect for damaged parts:
- Check for any visibly damaged parts, such as broken gears or pieces of plastic. If you find any, the printer may require professional service.
Clean the carriage rail:
- Use a soft, lint-free cloth to clean the carriage rail. Dust and debris on the rail can impede the movement of the carriage.
Check for paper jams:
- Even if you don't see any paper, check the printer thoroughly for any hidden paper jams. Sometimes, a small piece of paper can cause the carriage to jam.
Perform a reset or partial reset:
- Consult your printer's manual or documentation for instructions on performing a reset. This may help clear any internal errors that could be causing the carriage jam.
